Ugh. I'm so sick of the proposition 8 debate. I am so glad I do not live anywhere near California because the gays are out of control there. I understand being disappointed and wanting to change an outcome that isn't what you had hoped for or counted on, but how about taking your passion and using it in a constructive manner instead of demanding people with differing opinions jump ship over to your side with intimidation tactics? Grabbing a cross from a little old lady, throwing it on the ground and then stomping on it all the while screaming at the little old white haired lady is not the approach that is going to win people over, fyi. Demanding tolerance from your opposition while you are being highly intolerant kind of makes you hypocrites, don't you think?

I have no problem boycotting places of business, civil protests, petitions, rallies (for instance, I am boycotting all mainstream media that failed to report the truth about President-elect Obama, see www.change.gov for a real treat and don't forget to click onto AMERICA SERVES and read all about his intentions for creating a civilian national security force comprised of OUR CHILDREN, oh wait, he's changed his tune and replaced "mandatory service" to "voluntary service" and he replaced "children" with "all Americans" but he does still outline how our children might serve him--the ruler, the messiah, the ONE--ummm...over my dead body!!!), but let's ditch all the hate if your message is supposed to be about celebrating the love between two people. Let's not forget the message.

Lately I've been feeling this great divide between people--the ones who believe Barak Obama will be the great hope and healer, and those who think the Obama presidency will be the end of the America we know and love. The Obama fanatics cannot tell me what it is they think he will do for them (or they say things like he will pay for their gas and mortgage which is completely unrealistic). All they tell me is that he symbolizes hope and change. Super. I guess I should sleep easier knowing these intangibles decided an election, but curiously, I am not. I saw what happened during the campaign when people dared to criticize him--they were silenced, investigated, and harassed--kind of like what the gays are now doing in CA to the Mormons. I cannot tell you how much this alarms me.

Also, celebrity blowhards need to stfu. It's like they cannot stay out of the limelight for even one minute if they know a camera is rolling somewhere, so they rush to the scene to throw in their worthless 2 cents and we're all supposed to think how progressive and hip they are. Newsflash: we don't think you are hip and progressive, we think you need constant attention and will use any agenda as an excuse to get your face on tv. Give it a rest already.

Maybe if the gays and their supporters/celebrities had spent a little more time PRIOR to the election getting the word out and educating people, this wouldn't have happened. How dare the gays and their lunatic supporters intimidate and terrorize other people for exercising their right to vote just because they did not vote their way? This IS STILL AMERICA people, we're allowed to vote without fear of being chased down like criminals for a difference of opinion. At least I hope we are.

I see the mainstream media is back at it with their biased/selective reporting/creating of news. Commenting on the altercation between gays and the little old lady with the cross, the mainstream media said something like "you can see hatred on both sides..." HUH? Was she watching what I was watching? As Judge Judy would say, "Don't pee on me and tell me it's raining."

I don't really care if gays marry. That's their business. I'm sick of sitting back and watching things I know are wrong and not saying anything about it. I've seen dozens of stories documenting the plight of the poor gays who are so oppressed, but I don't see anyone standing up for the people the gays are mercilessly harassing. That's probably because they are white and therefore, automatically "privileged." We mustn't side with the privileged white people. Ever.

Except I am.

Down but not out

Congratulations to President elect Barak Hussein Obama.

I believe in gracious losing--in defeat that results when you fight the good fight and still come up short. Losses tend to teach us more than victories so I will be paying attention to the things I can gain rather than dwell on what I feel we might have lost. I believe in an America where we walk free to vote and choose. I know that all of life is about living with the choices we make the best we can. I believe in the inherent goodness of people despite all the madness and despair. I have faith in God who watches over all of us, and who is with us most when we feel Him least.

I hope that all the people who supported Obama get the change they were hoping for, that they were promised. He hid a lot of who he is, but he clearly spelled out his plans (change) for America--and no one should be surprised when he puts those plans into action. I hope some day I can see in him all the things his supporters see in him. He can talk a good talk, but actions speak much louder than words. I will be watching.

There is no going back, only moving forward.

My favorite part of watching the presidential debates is how after the debate is over, the media comes on and tells us what we just saw, and I am left scratching my head as to whether we have all been watching the same thing because our views are so completely different with regard to the same event. It's like looking outside and seeing a snow storm dropping 3 feet of snow all around, and then the news comes and tells us it's sunny outside with temperatures high in the 80's. Alrighty then!

I'd like to point out how ridiculous this notion is that all Barak Obama needed to do to win the debate was show up. I have to wonder just how many screws are loose in the heads of folks who think like that. That's a completely irresponsible approach to choosing a president. How many of us are permitted to show up at our jobs, do nothing, and get rewarded with a promotion or pay raise? How many mothers feel as though simply waking up in the morning is enough effort to put forth into raising responsible human beings? I mean, really. What I've learned from my time on earth is that when we expect NOTHING, we get nothing. I want more for America. I would really like to know why are we asking so little of Barak Obama.

Here's something else I find curious. I keep hearing about how Barak Obama is ahead in the area I live, but if you take a little spin around town, for every 10 McCain/Palin posters I see displayed, I will only see 1 for Barak/Biden. If there is such overwhelming support for this man, as I am being told by media, then why am I not seeing it with my own two eyes? What I hear from the media is completely contradictory to what I am seeing in my every day life. Part of my double major in college was Journalism (many, many years ago so let's not go there). What I am witnessing going on in the media right now is nothing short of scandalous. Reporting the news has been replaced by CREATING the news. What a complete buffoon show. Interjecting your opinions into the news is NOT reporting facts which is what true journalism is all about. Perhaps a refresher course is in order for some people. Here's a clue mainstream media: Do not knock me flat on my face and tell me we're ballroom dancing because I'm not going to buy it.

Rush Limbaugh jokingly says that there are two political parties in the US, the Democrats and Racist America, suggesting that if you do not vote for Obama then you are automatically in the racist camp. Democrats are banking on people being uncomfortable being labeled racist, and use this tactic to fight every difference of opinion. They hope shaming us by screaming racist in our direction will be the nudge we need to come to our senses and over to their side. Fortunately, there are many people who choose not to be manipulated by this song and dance. I don't expect Obama supporters to think the way I think so I don't see what's so hard about them extending me that same courtesy.

I can't wait for this whole thing to be over. I have prepared myself for the possibility of not having the man I want in the White House, but I hold unwavering hope that the best man (my man) will win.
